Steps to change password of database user that is used by PEM for monitoring.

Procedure to change database user password which is used by PEM agent to connect to a monitored server.

PEM Agents uses SSL authentication to connect to the PEM repository server and changing the database user password has no affect on connection between PEM agent and the PEM repository server. However, if the database user password that you are changing, is used for monitoring the database server, then also change the password in the database connection properties in PEM. The procedure to do this is described below:

PEM uses predefined usernames (agent1, agent2…etc) to connect to the PEM Repository database. See below example of a PEM repository server. User Name: agent1, agent2 are used by the PEM agent to connect to PEM repository Server:

The logins PEM_ADMIN and PEM_AGENT are the group roles and they are never used for login to PEM database. So, if you change their password, it’s not going to break anything as these are only granted as roles to other users needing access to PEM.

After making the password changes, make sure all agents and databases are showing UP status in the Global Overview Dashboard and the probe log has stopped showing any connection errors after changing the password:
