Backup issue

Dear All,

I tried to take the backup of remote server to local machine. Remote server contains PostgreSQL community version 9.6.2 and ip address is 192.168.211.148. Local machine I installed EDB Advanced Server 9.6.2.7 version and Ip address is 192.168.211.149.

In Edb server only I can take the remote server backup and restore to local server.

I tried this command

./psql -h 192.168.211.148 -p 5432 <database name>  | psql <databasebase name>

I will get following error message:

pg_dump: [archiver (db)] query failed: ERROR: unrecognized configuration parameter "qreplace_function"
pg_dump: [archiver (db)] query was: SHOW qreplace_function

Please resolve the issue?

Regards,

Malli

Re: Backup issue

Hi Malli,

You cannot use EPAS pg_dump binaries to dump the data from Community PostgreSQL.

For this, you have to use Community PostgreSQL pg_dump binary to dump the data and use EPAS psql binary to upload the data in the EPAS server.

Below is the sample example for the same :

/usr/pgsql-9.6/bin/pg_dump -p 5442 -U postgres -d postgres | /opt/edb/as9.6/bin/psql -p 5444 -U enterprisedb -d hello

However, as you mentioned in another thread you also required the data replication between the PostgreSQL community to EPAS. Hence, we would recommend you to use EDB Postgres Replication Server.

Hope this helps!
